Set goals

Before starting on this journey of being over-employed, you want to have a clear understanding of why you are doing it. Having an end-goal in mind will make the work load bearable and keep you motivated during difficult times.

Choose the right industry

This might not work in a job that has location requirements. As cool as it would be to drive for Pizza Hut and Papa Johns simultaneously, your chances of failing are much higher due to their restrictions. Not to mention screwing up the orders! Industries such as banking, tech and insurance all have remote jobs to choose from.

Separate the schedules

The main thing to keep in mind while working two full-time jobs is to not let them interfere with each other. If one or both of your employers become suspicious, you could be having a meeting you actually have to attend. Avoid overlapping schedules to make things less complicated.

Make a checklist

During this time, you will be keeping up with many tasks. Creating a checklist of deadlines for both of your occupations will help keep you organized and prevent you from getting overwhelmed.

Ask for help

There are only so many hours in a day and two full time jobs will eat up most of them. That means that most of the things you would do for yourself will quickly take a backseat. Don't be afraid to ask for help. You can ask a friend or a family member to prepare a few meals, do some laundry or take the dog out if they can.

Utilize PTO

Check your PTO schedule and find ways to schedule time off for days you will need to be present at your other job. Make sure the days are far out enough in case they need to be approved. Doing this helps you show up to important events or meetings, while still getting paid from your other job.

Take time for yourself

Doing twice the amount of work means you will need to be extra careful on the amount of sleep you get. Be sure to get your meals and drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your energy levels up and prevent dehydration. Not fueling your body properly runs the risk of fatigue and early burnout, which can cost you both employments

Conclusion

Managing two full-time jobs can be financially rewarding, but there are not many more benefits you can get from it. Before you go this route, be sure to look at your current situation and see if you would be able to handle the drastic changes without sacrificing your well-being.
